So anybody that's looked up here once or twice may have noticed I haven't updated it in a while so I thought I should try and shoot something on when I had some time off from work and everything. So here goes. I have contemplated several thoughts to be sprawled on here but I decided to go with something inspired by what I read earlier this week.
During my daily web search I came upon The List. Oscar winning Director Steven Soderbergh has managed to, for the course of a whole year, note down every single thing he's watched and read. Short stories, Television shows and Movies and more all during the course of filming his new movie Haywire (starring Ewan Mcgregor and Michael Fassbender). For anybody interested the list could be found here.
If you look on the list you'll find some pretty interesting things worth watching yourself. I found it interesting to notice when he went through certain phases, like there are a couple of days where all he watched was Hitchcock films, or repeat viewings of certain films within a week. I think this may help reflect how much people need a creative intake to produce anything creative themselves.
i found it mostly quite disconcerting myself. I mean I have a couple of dozen DVD's that I haven't watched because I usually think I'm too busy. I missed out on all the award corridor movies that came out in the cinemas and I haven't read a full book since May last year when I went on a Technology fast. I have been making two short documentaries for the past few months but when you look at this list you see a guy who's making his umpteenth movie. Which is a freaking achievement in itself, and has managed to still find time to watch and read all this stuff.
I mean seriously, where the hell do you find all the time to make a movie, focus on what you need to film that day and what time you're shooting what and everything and still be able to fit in time to cram in a triple bill of movies. I mean I've heard the saying 'you make time for the things you care about' but I think even this is a feat in itself.
What do you think, is this just a master multitasker at work or do you have trouble managing to fit it all in as well? (excuse the possible innuendo in that please). Leave your thoughts in the comments section.
Over and out
