Found this interesting link from the New York times.
it's basically an interview with the big cheese up at Sony pictures talking about what the studios want. It's particularly itneresting because it's not just about how story is king in to get the movie made but in the people that make it. Video conferencing and telelinks are nothing compared to someone standing in front of you telling a story.
